Frequent conflict and chronic negativity in the relationship
Communication difficulties

My

Approach

My approach to couples therapy draws upon both Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) and the Gottman Method Approach to Couples therapy. Our sessions would focus on identifying and reshaping the emotional dynamics within your relationship. The goal is to improve communication, deepen emotional bonds, and foster secure attachment between partners, ultimately creating a more fulfilling and harmonious relationship.

In the process, we would also go over specific tools to deepen friendship and intimacy in your relationship, productively manage conflicts and work together to help you appreciate your relationship’s strengths and to gently navigate through its vulnerabilities.

Clinical Supervision

Clinical supervision is a vital aspect of the professional development and ethical practice of counselors and therapists. It provides guidance, support, and a structured framework for growth and self-awareness, ultimately leading to better outcomes for clients and the well-being of practitioners.

At M.Y. Therapy, we provide consultation and supervision for individuals seeking to improve their clinical skills including those pursuing registration with SAC (Singapore Association for Counselling).

My

Approach

My approach to clinical supervision is grounded in a collaborative and client-centered philosophy. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment where supervisees can openly discuss their cases, challenges, and personal growth as therapists.
I value an integrated strengths-based and competency-based approach, focusing on the strengths and competencies of each supervisee, encouraging therapists to develop their unique therapeutic style and supporting their growth as competent and compassionate therapists. I believe reflective practice is integral to effective and ethical counseling and therapy and incorporate that in the supervision process. In addition to looking at case conceptualization and treatment planning, we would also look at the supervisee’s engagement of the client in session and help them develop a deeper understanding of how their own experiences and emotions may influence their work with clients.

My approach is flexible and tailored to the needs of each individual supervisee. Ultimately, my goal is to empower therapists to provide the best possible care to their clients while fostering their professional development and overall well-being.
